Hawaii State Library and Archives, Honolulu Hawaii

The Hawaii State Library and Archives are located near the I'olani Palace grounds and are open to the public. The Archives were established in 1905 and are responsible for collecting, appraising, preserving and making available to the public valuable Hawaiian government records.

The primary collections are made up of government records from the Monarchy to the current legislature. There are also private collections of individuals and organizations, historic photographs, maps, and other library collections. Some of these collections specialize in Hawaii history, culture and Pacific voyages.
