Ala Moana Center

Commonly referred to as Ala Moana is located across from Ala Moana Beach park, west of Waikiki, and East of Honolulu Harbor. Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated Ala Moana Beach Park in the 1930's.

The mall at Ala Moana center is the largest mall in Hawaii and the fifteenth largest mall in the US. It is also considered to be the largest open air shopping center in the world. Ala Moana is consistently ranked in the top ten most successful malls in the US.

The Ala Moana center stage is one of the most popular public amphitheaters in Hawaii. The stage is located in the center of the shopping mall, local talent is on stage and showcased for visitors enjoyment. Hula dances are a mainstay of the center stage performances, as well as the Royal Hawaiian Band. There are many schools throughout the US and the world travel to Honolulu in order to perform on the center stage at Ala Moana. In addition, there are episodes of the local TV show “Hawaii Stars” are filmed on the stage and onlookers can be seen packed on the second and third balconies.

The center is also the major transportation hub for TheBus, Hawaii's public transportation system. The Ala Moana Center can be accessed by routes from all points on Oahu. On a daily basis numerous tour and and city buses can be seen accessing Ala Moana Center.
